Kukup is known for good seafood. This day, the duo decided to ride over. They entered through Tuas Causeway.
Note: Touch N Go card is required for bikes entering Malaysia through Tuas Checkpoint.
THE ACCOMODATION
Booked a room at Kukup Golf Resort through AGODA.
GPS Coordinate: N 1° 23′ 2.372″ E 103° 26′ 17.42″
It turned out to be a villa. The staff there are service orientated. They directed the duo to park under a little sheltered porch rather than the bike lots under the hot sun.
THE ROOM
Room is like a typical chalet in Singapore. There is a small sitting area outside. Mosquito dominates the place at night so bring along an ultrasonic insect repellent if you want stay outdoor for tea.
ACTIVITIES
Within the resort:
- Golf 9 hole, 18 hole
- Lap Pool, Lagoon
- Playground, Gym
- Lounge – KTV, Pool Table, Bar Counter
- Tennis, Squash court
- Spa, Massage, Jacuzzi, Thai Massage
Outside the Resort: Nothing. You have to travel to the heart of Kukup which I believe is here.
DINNER
Went over to Kukup Ferry Terminal for seafood. Jalan Pontian-Kukup all the way to the end.
WARNING: DO NOT go to High King Seafood. The duo made a mistake by not googling for reviews before getting there. When they reached there, the data reception was very poor. So, they just entered this restaurant. Food was overcooked. Management was poor. Everything was in a mess.
Mary: Prawns are live?
Waiter: Dead ones.
Mary: … … …
Waiter: Live ones are reared. Not fresh.
Not very tasty black pepper crab.
The not very fresh crayfish.
The overcooked scallops.
The correct place to go is 长堤海鲜酒楼 Restoran Causeway Seafood.
BREAKFAST
The person-in-charge of the golf sector is a Singaporean. He knows all the good local food. Heeding his advice, the duo found this place.
Inconspicuous eating place.
Location: Travel along Jalan Pontian Kukup and turn into Lorong Mariam. It is at the beginning of Lorong Mariam.
GPS Coordinates: 1.475524, 103.394484
Major landmark. This place is directly opposite Lee Biscuit Factory. Somewhere after MacDonald when you head to Kukup or somewhere before MacDonald when you head back to SG.
Their operating hours. Close by 1 pm. Close every Wednesday.
These guys use their heart and soul to prepare a bowl of noodles. It was really tasty. Maybe their sweat was in there. LOL.
Very delicious, heart-warming bowl of noodles. Fish was cooked to the right doneness where the moisture and sweet taste of meat retains within the fish. Soup was delicious (without MSG). Ingredients were fresh.
Another great catch there was their coffee. I was told that the place serves great coffee. The heavenly aroma… They don’t sell their coffee powder by the way… = (
These are the other food they serve.
Lunch
Went to the heart of Kukup for seafood before heading off. Settled with Shun Feng Restaurant because most of the eateries were closed (public holiday).
Because the breakfast left them pretty filled up, they only ordered only prawns in some alcoholic soup base. Prawns were big and fresh.
BACK TO SG
On the way back there is this Durian Farm maybe you can stop to try.
Good place for a stop and drink: 18°C Tea Cafe along the way back. There is a Petron petrol kiosk. This place is still developing.
NEXT STATION
Malacca – 203 km away from home.
