Everywhere where Mary went the lamb will sure to go…
Address: 7815, Jln Lombong, Batu 8, Kota Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia 81900

How they got there:
Check in at around 2 pm. It started raining. Unpacked and arranged our belongings.
Tent is spacious. Equipped with clothes rack, few hangers, 1 floor sitting chair, 2 fans, 1 lamp, 1 side table, 2 Ikea blankets, 2 single bed.
They only start activity after 5 pm. I.e. before 5 pm is a one man show. It is really pointless to get here too early unless you have your own transport to go around, provided it doesn’t rain, or you want to go for some 3 km hike to the waterfall.
Limited plugs for our unlimited gadgets. They brought 4 power banks.
When the rain stopped at 5 pm.
Whatever Mary learnt in BBDC about riding all applies here. Look where you want to go. Grip tight but loosen your arms to maneuver to stay straight (narrow plank). Mary kept going into the grass because she kept looking at them. Look far. Mary got the hang of it after 15 mins.
ATV Rental
Without instructor – RM75/hour
Scenic Lake Circuit – RM100, 1 hour (With instructor)
Waterfall Circuit – RM200, 2 hour (With instructor)
Don’t even think of going without instructor. 1 of the ATV requires kick start and the route are not conspicuous. 1 hour is enough if you are a beginner and don’t want your arm to ache too much. Overall, it’s fun.
BBQ under the stars
“BBQ” is done under a shelter maybe due to the fact that we were the only people there. Fried rice, chicken wing, nuggets, “Ramly” burger, whole tilapia, french fries for dinner. You need electric bats to get rid of flies. Food is not bad and you don’t have other choices.
Sanitary
2 sitting toilets that are clean and 1 very spacious shower. Comes with hot shower. Just remember to switch it on.
Breakfast
2 slices of toast, 1 slice of ham, scramble egg. Make your own milo/coffee. They have hot/cold alkaline water dispenser.
Kota Tinggi Waterfall
Trek with an instructor to see a more magnificent waterfall. RM 30. But be prepared to get dirty. This is what you get if you pay RM15 and walk in from the front.

Things I’ve prepared:
Things to note/bring along:
- Get a Maxis data card to go online. Barely can receive data or signal if you roam. Maxis gives the best reception according to the locals.
- Their staff speaks and understands English.
- Bring a pad lock. Just lock the 3 zippers of the tent together and your belongings are secured. The hole of the pull tab is pretty large.
- It is cold at night. If you have sensitive skin like Mary, the more you must prepare long sleeves and pants. Uniqlo heat tech extra warm is very comfortable to sleep in. Their lounge pants is light and easy to travel with. Soft material and comes with pockets. Gutter bottom prevent mosquito from entering!
- Bring along electrical bats to kill flies.
- Bring along ultrasonic mosquito repellent. They comes in key chain/necklace pendant or plugged to sockets. Bring both preferably – 1 for you 1 for tent, so that you don’t have to keep zipping the tent up.
- Bring mess tin, stove, solid fuel, food if you want to experience real camping.
- Bring your own snacks. You really don’t want to take theirs. 7-eleven is 15 mins away (without traffic) and wild boar and elephants crosses the road.
- Bring your own board game, ipad, movie. Their “monopoly” is in RM. All their board games are in a mess. Did not try the KTV nor darts. Movie available either cannot watch or too boring. Sound system is good.
- Firefly cruise does not operate during weekday unless you have 10 pax or more. = (
- Pennants (colorful flags) are no longer there. Mary was pretty upset. If you like them, bring them along during your trip.
- Kota Tinggi has high precipitation whole year round. Having a cloudless night is rather rare. Stars and milky way in photo is from Mersing, photoshop into picture.
I will be going back again,
but more prepared next time
and preferably with more friends.
